Warner Bros. goes Blu-ray exclusive

Warner Bros. has gone Blu-ray exclusive. According to Barry Meyer, Chairman & CEO, this decision was made to bring a quick end to this tiresome format war. “The window of opportunity for high-definition DVD could be missed if format confusion continues to linger,” he noted…Warner Bros. will continue supporting HD DVD until May 2008. However, after that time, the studio will be exclusively Blu.

I’m going to go all-out Matrixy here: it was inevitable. This is undeniably a major coup for the Blu-ray camp (that I’m a supporter of) and one heck of a blow for the HD-DVD camp. Continuing with the Matrix theme- I’m looking forward to watching it on Blu-ray. If it is already out on Blu-ray, I just can’t get it round these parts.

It is also worth mentioning that it will be highly beneficial to Sony’s PS3- which itself a highly popular Blu-ray player.
