Having some fun with Google Suggestions
May 5th, 2008 by Los Havros
I don’t know how this came about, but my friend was entering something into Google, and Google’s search suggestions popped up with some amusing results. So he tried entering different things to see what would come up. Bear in mind that these search suggestions are probably based on most popular searches.
Let me begin with a quote first : “What does a scanner see? Into the head? Into the heart? Does it see into me? Clearly? Or darkly?” - Fred, abridged from A Scanner Darkly, by Phillip K. Dick.

That is the real question; how much do Google actually know about us? Kinda scary when you think about it. Anyhow, that’s the serious stuff out of the way, over to a bit of light-hearted fun.
It starts off very simple, with just one word. These words are interrogative, which are used to form questions. It is thus when using an interrogative word, that Google will yield what users are asking. I’ve listed everything almost exactly as it appears; there weren’t any ‘?’ marks, so I left them out. The words in bold are the search terms, and the words in italics are the suggestions:
What
What is my IP, What not to wear
Why
Why did I get married, Why we fight, Why do men cheat, Why can’t we be friends, Why is my computer so slow
Where
Where’s my refund, Where in the world is Osama Bin Laden
Where are
Where are you now, Where are my taxes, Where are my keys, Where are your kidneys located
How
How to tie a tie, How I met your mother, How to kiss
Whilst some are clearly comical: ‘Why did I get married’ and ‘Why do men cheat’ (probably explains the whole Men are from Mars, and Women are from Venus adage), others such as ‘how to kiss’ begin to get a bit more personal. Depending on what you enter, you might find something quite surprising…
