Why I Blog

by Adam on August 5, 2008

I suppose this could be classed as an addendum to the About page.  I won’t link to this post from the About page, so consider this a little gem, or golden nugget, if you like, of rich background info on why I do what I do.

I have been ‘about’ on the internet for almost a good 10 years now, and have mainly been passive in my use of the internet.  Previously, I would read what news stories I wanted and the following day would be exactly the same from square one.  The most ‘interactive’ I have been has been either on a MMO or on various forums.

However I began to notice that some people were more recognisable than others, and their opinion really did matter.  I continued to visit various sites, and although I had plenty of thoughts and opinions of my own- I had no voice.  This blog now gives me my own voice.

An interesting side note, is that not only has my blog become my voice on the internet, it is now both my identity and my brand.

So why exactly do I blog?  Primarily it is to speak my mind on areas that interest me, offer my opinions, and converse with like minded people, hopefully to get featured (eventually) in traditional media, and to share my expertise and experiences with others.

Why do you blog?
