Orange and their mysterious website- Can anyone tell me what’s going on?! It’s billed as ‘The World’s First Internet Balloon Race’ and it seems to either be run, or sponsored by Orange.

Playballoonacy was a campaign that we at Orange ran earlier this year to support the launch of our Animal packages onto pay-as-you-go.

Players could choose from virtual balloons shaped like one of our animals (Dolphin, Racoon, Canary or Camel) and then they were released across a race course made up of websites. Balloonists could boost their balloons and get buddy boosts from their mates and along the way they could pick up extra boost and pick up prize tokens to enter them into daily prize draws.

The winner was the balloon that covered the most internet miles over the week that the race ran (it ended at the start of July this year), and the lucky winner, a guy called Tom from Cambridgeshire won a luxury holiday for himself and 7 mates to Ibiza.

It most certainly does answer my questions! Thanks very much for your reply, it is much appreciated.

I think I was vaguely aware of the animal packages being available on pay-as-you-go but somehow, this entire campaign seems to have passed me by completely! Well, you live and learn.
