Gods Behaving Badly

Gods Behaving Badly, by Marie Phillips, is the book I have been reading for the past week or so. I’d describe it as a fictional comedy. I’m going to provide a few thoughts of mine on the book, and will try to be brief as I don’t intend this to be a review!
If you like your humour black, well occasionally at least; then this book is for you. Plus for those who like their reading with a bit of sauce, this book is rude at times. I mean, it’s not exactly graphic, but it is… descriptive, let’s say!
What is very refreshing about Gods Behaving Badly, is that whilst the author conjures up plenty of Greek mythology, it has been adapted with a fresh twist applied to fit the gods into a modern setting. If you think back to your history lessons at school (or silent passion, perhaps?) then you’ll know about the Greek mythology, and gods such as: Zeus, Apollo, Aphrodite, Hades etc. Greek mythology told stories of the Greek gods at the height of their power, but in this book, you’re presented with the gods living in a world where no one believes in them any more, and how they’re coping with it.
So, quite entertaining. At most points throughout the book, it’s quite a page-turner as well. Clocking in at 277 pages, it’s a nice little read that almost anyone could find time to unwind with. I hope I’ve at least brought this little gem to your attention. Recommended!
