Portable IDs now with Trophies
Mar 12th, 2009 by Los Havros
For more of a background on the PlayStation Network and what Portable IDs are, please see my previous post on this matter, ‘Sony unleashes ‘My PlayStation Network’ on eu.playstation.com’.
Slowly, but surely Sony’s provision for ‘gamer cards’ are catching up with what Xbox Live gamers have taken for granted for years. To show you the new Portable ID, I’ll display my full Portable ID with Trophies and such:

Whilst it looks vaguely nice, I had been tempted to say it looked liked it had been beaten with the ugly stick. I guess that for me, it’s just too big and cluttered. Perhaps fine for including in forum signatures, but not for display on people’s personal websites and blogs in the sidebar, for example.
Something else has been nagging me ever since Portable IDs were launched in Europe. For the love of God, why couldn’t they simply look like the virtual version on your PS3’s profile screen? Here’s a piccy to illustrate:

If you can see what I mean, they’re much easier on the eye, yes? You can chalk this up as another decision by Sony that at times leaves me bewildered, and at other times with my head banging against a wall. Unbelievable.
And so, I’m interested in what my fellow PlayStation Network brethren think about this latest development in our own personal gamer cards, but also on the aesthetics of it. I’m particularly interested in what Xbox Live gamers have to say on this: a step in the right direction? A joke? If so, why?
I just hope that Sony don’t think their work is over yet. Whilst I applaud them on the inclusion of Trophies, the visuals need to be ‘tightened’ up a bit.

Welcome to my personal blog where I ramble on about PS3-related gaming matters and other snippets that interest me.

Hmmm…..Something happened….they are not updating!!!
Hi Dmitry- I think the problem is that you need to sync your on your PS3, and then on the website, you've got to hit 'update' to update the information on your Portable ID. This will bring your Portable ID up to date as much as possible, but even then, people have been reporting that their Portable IDs are 'still' not fully up to date.
Hope this answers your question
