Hands-on with LittleBigPlanet

Sunday, November 9th, 2008

LittleBigPlanet is here, and gamers everywhere are giddy with excitement- and that’s just the adults!  Children are going to love this game, as in fact, will anyone really.  From what I’ve experienced, I can totally see how this can be a cult classic for the cool, hardcore gamers, but still be fun for all the family.

You’ll be glad to know that my woes with Amazon did not last long.  The package was waiting for me when I arrived home.  As I hadn’t been on my PS3 for quite some time, the usual formalities were required: download firmware update, install update, restart PS3.  Time for some LittleBigPlanet goodness then?  Apparently not: two updates needed to be downloaded and installed before I could so much as look at the loading screen.

New Paramore song to debut on ‘Twilight’ soundtrack

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

As an avid Paramore fan, I’m obviously going to be interested when I hear about new material.  I was happening to browse Paramore’s Official site and I came across a post about their next single.

It’s going to be called ‘Decode’, and will debut on the movie soundtrack for the upcoming 2008 film- Twilight.  Apparently the film is based on a novel which admittedly I don’t recall ever hearing of, oh well.  It’s also mentioned the single will be available everywhere November 4th which is good.  I will, of course be buying this beauty on CD when it comes out, assuming it’s any good.  But this is Paramore we’re on about, of course it’ll be good.

More Paramore news/info as and when it happens.

Have You Ever Seen The Rain (retro review)

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

I first came across this song on Stargate SG-1’s series finale, ‘Unending‘. For that episode it was in some ways an apt song to have on which I think has influenced my liking and possibly increased my enjoyment of the song itself. When I first heard the song I was captivated by the deep voice of the singer and the catchy yet gentle riffs. The song itself is a bit short and sweet but satisfying.

Creedence Clearwater Revival

A bit of background information is in order; “Have You Ever Seen The Rain?” is a song written by John Fogerty and was released in 1970 in the album Pendulum by the American rock group Creedence Clearwater Revival.  Overall, I find that I’m increasingly liking more ‘vintage’ music, especially 70s funk rock.  Apparently Creedence ’specialised’ in swamp rock- I can honestly say that is the first time I’ve heard of that genre.  However, having said that, there that many sub-genres within rock now, that it is quite ridiculous.  I digress…

Anyhow let’s see, I’d give this song 3 STARS (out of 5), just shy of getting 4 STARS.  Why?  I wish it was a bit longer, so that I could enjoy it more- keep pressing repeat isn’t quite the same!
